I believe that I can truly say that my life has followed the adage, “Variety is the spice of life.”  My teaching career has allowed me to teach a variety of subjects including French as a second language and the gifted program to many different grades from two to nine.  I have also taught education courses at the University of Alberta before returning to St. Albert Protestant Schools where I became the assistant principal of Keenooshayo.  Now as principal, I find myself again in a new and challenging, but exciting role.

In 2001 I received my masters in Curriculum and Instruction and in 2007 I convocated from the U of A with a doctorate in education focusing on Teacher Education.  I strongly believe in life long learning and I have a passion for exploring new issues and ideas.  This is something I endeavour to transfer to those with whom I work, whether they are students, staff or parents.

My learning experiences have taken me beyond books and the classroom.  As I have travelled the world I have been privileged to encounter diverse cultures and meet some amazing people.  My travels to Colombia, South America for Rotary International and my trip to Germany on a teacher exchange have broadened my understanding and knowledge of education, people and the world in general.

As an educator, I believe that relationships are at the center of all that we do.  Establishing positive and lasting relationships are important to me and it is because of this that my door is always open to all.

I am married and have one daughter and two step sons who no longer live at home, but visit frequently.  I enjoy visiting with my family, sports, reading, music, theatre and most of all, travelling.

I have been with the St. Albert Protestant School Division for the past 9 years. Through my experiences I have had the opportunity to teach in a variety of the core subject areas, as well as Physical Education, Computers, and Art. Along with my teaching role, I have mentored many student teachers, been a liaison with the University of Alberta and the Alberta Teachers Association. I have also had the opportunity to coach a variety of sports teams and have been the lead teacher in Student Leadership programs.

I am an avid runner, completing 2 marathons and many ½ marathons, and this past summer I completed two triathlons. I am married to Sean and we have one daughter, Laura, who attends school in our division. Along with being physically active, I enjoy reading, spending time with family, listening to music and travelling.

I am excited to be part of the Keenooshayo community and I look forward to working with students, staff and parents as we continue to “promote high standards of academic achievement and foster a desire for life long learning.”
